VERNON HILLS, Ill.--Known in gourmet circles as the parent company of Amco Housewares, Back to Basics, Chicago Metallic and West Bend, Focus Products Group LLC acquired the assets of Sitlax Ltd. and Steeltek LLC, jointly known as Steeltek, earlier this month.

Steeltek designs and markets bathroom and kitchen accessories. Based in Avenel, N.J., Steeltek was founded in 1980 by the husband-and-wife team of Jitu and Gita Patel. The Patels will be joining Focus to continue their work. Jitu will also head up all Focus sourcing efforts in India where Steeltek has strong relationships, according to a prepared statement.

The Steeltek distribution and much of its office functions will be consolidated into existing Focus Products' facilities, with the company maintaining sourcing, procurement, sales and product development in New Jersey.

This represents Focus' third acquisition in the last 60 days. Just last month, Focus acquired Warmrails, known for its towel warmers for the bath. "... We have a desire to continue to expand our strength in the bath sector. In this regard, we have established a new group within our company, Focus Bath Group. All bath products and brands will have consolidated distribution out of Focus' 150,000 square-foot distribution facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.," said Focus Products Group CEO Keith Jaffee, in a prepared statement.

Focus Products Group's products include kitchen accessories, small appliances, housewares, bakeware, personal care, storage systems, and kitchen electrics. Focus brands include Excello Products, Focus Foodservice, Jerdon and Xtraordinary Home Products.
