Wine Enthusiast moves into larger facility
MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.--To keep up with industry growth, Wine Enthusiast, a wholesaler and distributor of wine accessories, is in the process of moving to a larger facility here, as well as updating its Web site.

The distributor plans to be fully operational in its new 130,000-square-foot headquarters, which includes office space, by Aug. 1, according to Hank Rosen, president. The new facility replaces its 90,000-square-foot headquarters in Elmsford. Web site updates, including a wholesale portal where retailers can browse through inventory, will be completed by May 1.

"The wine industry continues to grow by leaps and bounds," Rosen said. "Our expansion is setting us up for future growth and will accommodate the needs and wants of our customers. There's so much more business to be done online and through drop shipping."

The new warehouse will be equipped to provide special shipping options for retailers, including direct shipping to distribution centers, stores and consumers, Rosen said. "It's all about methodology and meeting the varying needs of the retailers."

With 2,500 SKUs ranging from inexpensive bottle stoppers and corkscrews to large wine cellars and other furniture, Wine Enthusiast continues to expand its product offerings. New products introduced at the International Home and Housewares Show March 16 included a White Wine Chilling Carafe, and a TriBeCa Credenza Wine Cellar, Rosen said.

The wholesaler also continues to grow its customer base. Wine Enthusiast ships to retailers nationwide via UPS and common carrier trucks. It began distributing to the gourmet retail channel about four years ago, Rosen said. "We distribute to both large and small stores, and over the years have realized the potential venues that don't sell wine but are very much involved in the gourmet lifestyle have," he explained.
