'Tragic accident' forces Gourmet du Village to close temporarily
MORIN HEIGHTS, Quebec--In a posting on its Web site March 13, Gourmet du Village owner Mike Tott announced that heavy snow caused a section of its roof to collapse, killing three employees. The manufacturer and distributor of gourmet foods and tableware will be closed until further notice.

"It is with great regret that I inform you that a tragic accident occurred at Gourmet du Village," Tott said on the Web site. "The roof over a section of our company collapsed under the pressure of snow resulting in the deaths of three very dear employees. We have no other news at this time. We are obviously closed until further notice. Please keep us in your prayers."

Gourmet du Village, based here, is known for its gourmet gifts, including dips, hot chocolate, herbs, spices and tableware collections. This year marks its 25th year in business.
