Eva Solo's table grill takes Best in Show at Gourmet Show
LAS VEGAS--A multi-purpose table grill by Danish housewares brand Eva Solo took home the Best in Show award at the Gourmet Golds competition at the Gourmet Housewares Show here May 8.

The product is imported and distributed by Nexus Marketing, South El Monte, Calif. Nathan Buffington, director of sales for Nexus Marketing, said the tabletop grill, designed for outdoor use, works with charcoal and has been available in the U.S. market for about a year-and-a-half. "It is perfect for an intimate dinner for two," he said. Each table grill includes a white ceramic base, 18/10 stainless steel bowl, grill rack and teak stand and has a suggested retail price of $340. It's not just for grilling; all pieces can be used separately or together in a variety of ways, noted Buffington.

Bambu, a kitchenware line made from bamboo and other sustainable materials with offices in New York, took home the show's first Green By Design award for its Bambu Kids line.

"It's great to be recognized with the Gourmet Housewares show first Green award...We're a values-driven company not just a profit-driven one," said Jeff Delkin, who started the company with Rachel Speth five years ago.

When applying its eco-friendly, sustainable philosophy to the line they've created, Delkin and Speth "look at the whole process," he added. The couple lives in Shanghai near the manufacturing facility where work conditions are monitored. Back in 2005, Bambu joined with 1% For The Planet in 2005 and contributes about 1 percent of net sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment. For the line's bamboo cutting boards, plates and cutlery, the bamboo is from a certified-organic farm in China and is sustainably grown and free of pesticides. Plus, Bambu's packaging is environmentally friendly and made from recycled fibers.

Hundreds of products competed in this year's Gourmet Golds competition. Other winners include:

Cookware/Bakeware: Fissler USA for its Blue Point Pressure Pan

Kitchen Electrics: Krups' fully automatic espresso machine

Tabletop & Textiles: Prodyne Enterprises Iced Salad server
