OAKLAND, Calif.--Farmstead Cheeses and Wines will open its second Cheese and Wine emporium, in the Montclair section here on May 19.
Operated by Montclair residents Jeff Diamond and his wife Carol Huntington, the 1,200-square-foot location will have 50 percent more capacity than its five-year-old flagship Alameda store that has experienced "double-digit growth every year," according to a prepared statement.

The Montclair location will carry many of the same cheeses from London's Neal's Yard Dairy, Cheeseworks West, Chef's Warehouse, Columbus Distribution, Tony's and Crystal Foods, as well as a small selection of pates and cured meats, and many wines and craft beers.
Farmstead will continue its weekly educational wine tastings in the shop and will host its cheese, cheese and wine pairing, and wine appreciation classes, and present winemaker dinners at top restaurants. There's ample low-cost parking in the city-owned lot across the street, and Montclair has a Farmer's Market every Sunday.
The new store was designed by Ken Hertel and Clay Fry of MBH Architects of Alameda, who also designed Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn in Walnut Creek, and was built by The Construction Zone, a Castro Valley-based contracting firm.
