Shoppers can purchase by borough as well as find eco-friendly gifts made in New York City and the surrounding five boroughs. Local Labels carries products such as porcelain take-out dishes from Lorena Barrezueta, graffiti lighting from Brooklyn, body products by Staten Island and more. Products at the kiosk are chosen for the shopper that is on the go.

Local Labels, which started out as an online marketplace in 2007, will not be selling its best-selling food items in its new location. "We were unable to carry food in the hallway we're in at Grand Central Terminal," said Loren Talbot, co-owner. "There is a conflict with the Grand Central Marketplace that's here."

Talbot said she and her partner Jean Tanler hope to move their business into the Grand Central Marketplace area in the future where they'll be able to showcase local foods such as Kopper's Chocolate and The Exceptional Brownie.

Two years ago, Local Labels launched to support established and emerging small-scale producers in New York City. Purchasing from local manufacturers cuts down on fossil fuels spent when people purchase from out-of-state and overseas vendors, said Talbot.
