Four new directors have been elected to the board of directors of the International Housewares Association, the trade association for the housewares industry. The new directors are Evan M. Dash, CEO, Dash Holdings Group LLC; Kenneth D. Lefever, president, Wilton Armetale; Michael L. Magerman, president/CEO, Quickie Mfg. Corp., and Joseph T. Mallof, president/CEO, World Kitchen LLC. They were elected to three-year terms that began on Oct. 1 and expire Sept. 30, 2012. The association has elected its first international chairman, Robert L. Trudeau of Canada. Newly elected board officers include vice chairman/chairman elect Bruce Kaminstein, CEO, Casabella Holdings LLC; treasurer Barry D. Harper, president/CEO, Harper Brush Works Inc. All officers serve one-year terms to Sept. 30, 2010.
Breville Group Limited announced the appointment of Scott Meyer to the position of president-North America. The president is responsible for the HWI USA and HWI Canada operations and reports directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Audsley. Meyer served as general manager of the Faucet division of American Standard, having begun in 2008 as chief marketing officer. Prior to this, he held the role of president and CEO of T-Fal/Wearever USA from 2003-2007 and brings with him valued experience in both the small domestic appliance and homewares categories. Stephen Audsley, in a prepared statement, said, "Scott met our key requirements for strong leadership together with strategic and operational skills. Combined with over 20 years at the Gillette Company and Johnson and Johnson, Scott has extensive experience in disciplined marketing and operations in the consumer goods sector."

 Miles McEvoy as the new Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Organic Program. "As Organic Program Manager for the Washington State Department of Agriculture's Organic Food efforts, Miles has been very active as a long-time member of the Organic Trade Association. OTA is pleased that he will be filling this very important position in USDA. OTA is confident that, with his experience, he will provide invaluable guidance and clear thinking that will further the integrity of the National Organic Program," said Christine Bushway, OTA's executive director, in a statement.
