The acquisition builds on Mizkan's plans for global expansion of its retail branded, food ingredients and food services businesses. Other terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

"This acquisition broadens our product offerings across several channels of trade, including supermarket retail and food service. Strategically, this purchase is in line with our roll up strategy for North America and Europe," said Craig Smith, president and CEO of Mizkan Americas, based here, in a prepared statement.

The purchase brings to Mizkan Americas a full line of sauces and marinades, including the World Harbors(r) Brand and Buccaneer Blends(r) Barbeque Sauces.

"This acquisition further expands the Mizkan product portfolio and provides Mizkan with entry into additional categories within the supermarket channel," said Dennis Dedmond, senior vice president, marketing and strategic planning.

Mizkan Americas is a subsidiary of the Handa City, Japan-based Mizkan Group and has 13 manufacturing plants that serve the retail, foodservice, specialty, Asian and food ingredient trade channels. Its brands include Holland House, Imperial Brands, Nakano and Four Monks.
