MALVERN, Pa.-Wegmans opened a new store here on July 18, and so far the reception has been positive. The new store is 130,000 square feet, features an on-site restaurant and is managed by 22-year Wegmans veteran Kevin Lang.
"I started preparing a little earlier than usual because Malvern is only the second Wegmans store with a full-service in-store restaurant called The Pub," he said, in a prepared statement. "I wanted to learn all about the first one in Collegeville, Pa to understand its operations and see if we could fine-tune anything for Malvern. One thing I know for sure is it's a great place for a family to enjoy a meal together."

Of the thousands of preparations that go into opening a store, none counts more than choosing the right 650 employees for Malvern, Lang said. They will deliver the outstanding customer service for which the company is known-when whipping up a double-espresso latte order at the Coffee Bar, fetching a golden-brown baguette from the oven for a customer, talking about the fragrant summer fruit from a local farm just in this morning, or showing a customer a new way to present cheese selections at her next party.
"We've built a tremendous team to open this store," Lang said.
