HARRISBURG, Pa. (March 28) - Food and beverage marketing agency Pavone has released its annual collection of the top trends facing today's marketers. Titled "Five Things You Need to Know", the report includes a focus on how consumers are taking "gourmet shortcuts" to prepare meals, how they make purchasing decisions, and which group of consumers marketers should pay more attention to in the coming years (Hint: It's not moms).
The third annual trend report is based on in-depth research, analysis and contributions from industry leaders. Among the trends outlined by Pavone: Gourmet Shortcuts-While more consumers work hard to improve their cooking skills, they don't necessarily want to do it all. Shortcuts from trusted culinary authorities serve as time-saving tools for the aspiring home chef; Meaty Issues-An increase in education and awareness is forcing Americans to become more thoughtful about their meat and protein choices; Adults Only-Two-thirds of U. S. households are childless. Child-free shoppers spend, eat and drink differently, and our marketing should adapt accordingly; Guy Food-As gender roles and economics transform workforce and home, more men are sharing or taking over food decisions, which they make differently from women; and Conscious Consumption-the most mainstream consumers considering the ethics behind products when choosing what to eat, where to buy it, how to prepare it and even how to get rid of it.
