Stonyfield Farm's Gary Hirschberg steps down as CEO, names Walt Freese as successor
Gary Hirschberg, founder and CEO of organic yogurt leader Stonyfield Farm, is stepping down.

"After nearly three decades, I have decided to bring my tenure as Stonyfield's President and CE-Yo to a close and I have hand-picked a wonderful guy to replace me in that role. I am pleased to share that Walt Freese, the former CEO of Ben & Jerry's, will be taking my place beginning on January 23rd. I will continue to serve as Stonyfield's Chairman," Hirschberg posted on the company website.

Hirschberg will remain involved with different aspects of the company, including European affiliates. He will also continue to advocate for compulsory labeling of genetically engineered foods, where he has been a prominent voice.
