Fresh & Easy to close 12 stores, open 24 new stores throughout March |

Fresh & Easy, the U.S. chain owned by British retailer announced the closing of 12 stores this week. along with the opening of more than two dozen new stores in California before the end of March.
The 12 stores closed include seven in California, four in the Phoenix area and one in Las Vegas. The company still holds the leases, however, and so has called the closings temporary.

At least seven of the 24 new locations will be smaller-format Fresh & Easy Express stores, in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. The first Express store opened in Los Angeles in November.
