Louis Kertesz, produce industry retail expert, 76

Louis Kertesz, a prominent figure in produce retail, died on Saturday, June 2. A former vice president of produce operations for The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. before becoming a consultant and principal in several businesses, and a past chairman of the Produce Marketing Association, Mr. Kertesz was named Produce Marketing Man of the Year in 1980. Throughout his career Kertesz was credited with helping transform the industry, partly by introducing the trucking of shipments to retail stores.
