Delhaize America names Roland Smith as CEO |

Roland Smith will be the new President and CEO of Delhaize America and executive VP of Delhaize Group (Belgium), effective Oct. 15. He succeeds Ron Hodge, who retires later this year and will remain with Delhaize America in an advisory role until then. Delhaize is the parent company of U.S. supermarket banners Food Lion, Hannaford and Harveys.
Most recently, Mr. Smith served as President and CEO of fastfood chain Wendy's. He has also served as CEO of Triarc Cos., Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc., American Golf Corp. and National Golf Properties and AMF Bowling Worldwide, Inc.

Mr. Hodge will retire after serving in various senior leadership roles with Delhaize Group, including CEO of Delhaize America Operations and CEO of Hannaford.
