American Cheese Month "Passport" expands to 30 retailers in 17 states |

More than 30 cheese shops in 17 states have kicked off the 2nd Annual American Cheese Month, a Passport Program run by the American Cheese Society (ACS). Interested retailers can still sign up online (http://www.cheesesociety.org/i-heart-cheese/american-cheese-month-passport-program/). Participation is free, with ready-to-print passports, signage, and marketing tools available from ACS.
Launched last year, the Passport Program is designed to generate consumer enthusiasm for American artisan, farmstead, and specialty cheeses. Customers can purchase a $10 passport, which provides a discount (from 20-40 percent) on a designated "cheese of the day" from October 1-31. Daily cheeses and discounts vary per store, but the passport is valid at all participating retailers. All proceeds from the passport sales will benefit the nonprofit American Cheese Education Foundation.

"The [program] offers a unique opportunity for consumers to try American cheeses at reduced prices while also supporting their local economy," says Nora Weiser, ACS Executive Director.
Participating retailers are listed on the event website, and they can follow the ACS Twitter feed for updates on participating companies and their featured cheeses throughout October.
