Retail marketing body awards Roundy's for Mariano's Fresh Market |

Milwaukee grocer Roundy's has been selected for this year's 2012 Chief Award for Retail Marketing Excellence by industry group Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI), for its innovations in its new retail banner, Mariano's Fresh Market.
The award's release cites Mariano's Fresh Market for offering "a completely new take on the supermarket shopping experience." The award cites innovations such as a touch-screen kiosk where shoppers can research nutrition information, an on-site registered dietician, and plans for wellness events and printed guides on subjects like gluten free eating. Organic and natural products are prominently displayed on bump-outs, so customers can quickly determine if there are gluten-free and organic products down that aisle. The banner operates eight stores in the Chicago area.

 As the 2012 honoree, Roundy's joins the ranks of past awardees including Walgreen's, Safeway, 7-Eleven and Duane Read.
