With Spain suffering its worst social and economic crisis in a generation, leading Spanish food importer La Tienda has launched a campaign to help support the country's food banks. Donations made via Campaign for Spain from Nov. 8 to Jan. 31 will be matched dollar for dollar by the company, up to $25,000. No administrative fees will be deducted.
"The headlines coming out of Europe tell the story," said Don Harris, CEO of La Tienda. "Spain is suffering through its worst social and economic crisis in at least a generation, with millions out of work. Our company is uniquely positioned to help and will be raising funds to support the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL) this holiday season." Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has lent her support as well, with an endorsement on the campaign website.

No purchase is necessary to donate, but La Tienda customers can also opt to donate when they check out online or when ordering by phone.
The campaign mirrors La Tienda's longstanding and continuing support for food banks in Virginia.
"We hope that the 'Campaign for Spain' will be an equally successful international effort and we appreciate any support you can give," added Harris.
