Prior to joining Newport Avenue Market, Dory was the owner of Donner Flower Shop, the oldest continually woman-owned business in Bend, Oregon, which she had bought at age 20. Soon after selling the flower shop in 1989, Debbie joined Rudy's Markets Inc., DBA Newport Ave. Market IGA, as a company director overseeing the development of bakery and deli. In 1991, after an extensive remodel Debbie created the vision and implemented the design that turned the store from a traditional grocery into the award-winning independent retailer it is today.
