Independents revamp Web sites through MyWebgrocer.com
COLCHESTER, Vt.--Three independent grocery store chains have signed on to MyWebGrocer.com recently to enhance their online presence.

Martin's Supermarkets, South Bend, Ind., Ball's Food Stores, Kansas City, Kan., and Buehler's in Wooster, Ohio, have launched new online marketing services through MyWebgrocer.com, including interactive sale circulars, e-mail alerts and recipe databases. The new features act as interactive tools to draw in customers, according to Courtney Musella, public relations coordinator at MyWebgrocer.com.

Martin's Web site, www.martins.com, went live April 16 and Ball's will launch its new sites, www.henhouse.com for its upscale grocery format Hen House Market, and www.pricechopper.com for its discount format Price Chopper, in the next couple of months, Musella said.

With the online sale circulars, shoppers can browse weekly specials, as well as receive e-mails notifications regarding special promotions, Musella explained. Customers can also generate recipes through an integrated recipe database by entering a specific food or product.

Buehler's, a family owned, 13-store chain, will launch online shopping through www.Buehlers.com in June, Musella said. Martin's and Ball's are considering launching online shopping functionalities in the future.

Martin's is a 20-store grocery chain in Indiana and Michigan. Ball's Food Stores is a member of Associated Grocers Inc. and operates 29 supermarkets in the Kansas City area. MyWebgrocer.com, based here, provides Web tools for more than 80 grocery retailers nationwide.
