California, Oregon Cheese Festivals in Abeyance

The producers of the Oregon Cheese Festival and the California Artisan Cheese Festival have put their plans on hold due to the COVID19 pandemic. The California festival, originally scheduled for March 27 through 29, has been cancelled for this year. The Oregon festival, originally scheduled for March 13 through 15, has been postponed until June 20-21. The Oregon Cheese Guild’s annual Cheesemaker Dinner will proceed as planned on Friday, March 13, with proceeds to go to the Guild’s efforts to provide support to small-scale Oregon cheesemakers during this difficult economic time. Limited tickets for this four-course, cheese-themed dinner are available online.

“With cases of COVID-19 now presumed in Jackson County, the risk of spreading illness by hosting an event of this size has increased substantially. Even with the precautionary measures we had planned to ensure adequate sanitation and air flow, the risk is too great to hold it at this time,” the Oregon Cheese Guild stated in its cancellation notice. Tickets that had already been sold for the March event will automatically be honored in June. New tickets for the June dates will be available for purchase online starting Monday, March 15.
